Scheduling lets you write when it suits you and publish when your audience is online. Text posts, images, carousels, infographics and videos all go through the same window, and the Schedule calendar shows everything that is lined up.

Before you start, make sure a LinkedIn profile is connected. If it is not, the scheduling window says "No integrations found". See Connect LinkedIn.

Schedule a post from the editor

  1. Open the draft, either from Drafts or from the chat where you wrote it.
  2. Click Schedule at the top right of the post. It waits until your latest edits show Saved.
  3. In Schedule LinkedIn Post, check the preview, then choose the Platform (the LinkedIn profile or page to post as), the Date and the Time. Pick a time at least 5 minutes from now.
  4. Optional: choose a Comment Plug option for a first comment, or add Tags. See Comment Plug. The Already Scheduled calendar at the bottom of the window shows the days you already have posts on, so you can avoid clashes.
  5. Click Schedule Post.

You will see "Post scheduled for" and the date. The post is now locked and shows a Scheduled banner at the top. Postiv publishes it at that time, usually within a minute.

Choose the profile, date and time, then click Schedule Post.

You can also ask Bob in the chat: "Schedule this for Tuesday at 9am." Bob uses the post's profile.

LinkedIn needs text with every post. If the caption box is empty, you will be asked to add some. Posts are limited to 3,000 characters.

Add a post from the calendar

  1. Click Schedule in the sidebar.
  2. Click Add Post, or click an empty slot marked Add post in the week view to start with that day and time.
  3. In Create LinkedIn Post, write your text and attach media if you want: Carousel, Image Library, Upload Video (up to 200 MB) or drop in images (up to 20).
  4. Choose the profile, date and time, then click Create & Schedule Post.

Read the calendar

The week planner shows your posts and the open slots you still need to fill.
  • Week and Month switch the view. Today and the arrows move around. The week view shows your time zone.
  • Filters narrows the calendar by Post Type: All Types, Carousels, Images or Plain Text.
  • Post History lists posts that are already past their time.
  • The side panel has Overview (counts for Scheduled, Open slots and Approvals), Upcoming Posts, Content mix and Top posters.
  • Each post carries a status badge: Scheduled, Processing, Published, Failed, Pending Approval, Pending Changes, Denied or Expired.

Click a post to open it. The window shows the preview, status, author, profile and tags.

Change the time or take a post back

  • Drag and drop: in the week view, drag a post to another slot. The new slot must be in the future.
  • Reschedule: open the post and click Reschedule. Use Tomorrow, +1 Week or Next Monday, or Or pick a specific time, then click Reschedule.
  • Edit Post: change the text, attachment or comments without unscheduling.
  • Unschedule: removes the post from the calendar and turns it back into a draft. You can also click Unschedule on the banner inside the editor.

If approvers have already reviewed the post, editing its text or attachment resets their approvals and sends it back for review. See Approvals.

Set your post slots

Slots are the days and times you want to post each week. Empty slots show Add post so you can fill them in one click.

  1. In the side panel, find Post slots and click the gear icon (Edit post slots).
  2. Pick your Posting days, then add up to five Posting times with Add time.
  3. Click Save, or Skip to leave things as they are.
Set the days and times you want to post, and the calendar shows your open slots.

Saving also updates the weekly publishing goal for your main profile. Add to next slot fills the next open one.

If a post does not go out

Open it and read the status message. Failed shows the reason, and a Reconnect LinkedIn link appears when the connection is the problem. A post that needs approval will not publish until it is approved. See A scheduled post did not go out.
