LinkedIn disconnected or expired
What to do when Postiv says your LinkedIn connection needs attention, expired or was revoked.
Written by Jan van MusscherUpdated October 2, 2026
Postiv publishes through LinkedIn's official sign-in, and LinkedIn limits how long a connection lasts. When it runs out, or when you remove Postiv's access on LinkedIn, Postiv can no longer publish or read your analytics until you reconnect. The fix takes about 30 seconds and none of your content changes.
What you might see
- A banner at the top of the app: Your LinkedIn connection needs attention with a Reconnect LinkedIn button.
- A banner or window saying your connection expires in a number of days, with Refresh Now or Refresh LinkedIn Connection.
- A Connection expired label on your LinkedIn card in Settings.
- A scheduled post marked Failed with the message "LinkedIn connection expired or was revoked. Reconnect your LinkedIn account to publish this post."
- An email telling you a scheduled post could not be published because the connection failed.
- Knowledge and Foundation greyed out in the sidebar, with a hint such as "Connect your LinkedIn first to open Knowledge". This means no LinkedIn profile is connected at all.
Likely causes
- Your connection reached its expiry date. LinkedIn asks for a fresh sign-in about every 60 days when Postiv cannot renew it automatically.
- You or an admin removed Postiv from LinkedIn's list of permitted apps.
- LinkedIn rejected the saved sign-in, for example after a security change on your LinkedIn account.
- You disconnected the profile in Postiv.
Reconnect your account
- Open Settings, then LinkedIn Accounts.
- Find your LinkedIn card. It shows Connected as with your name and, if it is running out, the Connection expires date or Connection expired.
- Click Reconnect. If the connection is still valid, the button reads Refresh or Refresh Connection instead, and it does the same job.
- Sign in on LinkedIn if asked, and approve access. You return to Postiv with the message "LinkedIn connection refreshed!"
You can also click the button in the banner at the top of the app. If the banner shows Reconnect LinkedIn but your card has no Reconnect button, use the banner.
If you manage company pages, reconnect your personal profile first. The pages sit under it. If you see Reconnect LinkedIn to enable company page management, click Reconnect there too.
After you reconnect
- Posts still waiting in the queue can publish again. If their time passed while you were disconnected, they may go out soon after you reconnect, so check Schedule and unschedule anything you no longer want live.
- If you disconnected the profile yourself, its waiting posts were marked Failed and need scheduling again.
- Posts that already failed are not sent automatically. Open the failed post in Schedule to see its content, then schedule it again. See Post not published.
- Analytics, Engage and Comment Plug start working again. Allow a little time for analytics to catch up. See Analytics are empty, missing or out of date.
Common questions
I get "You already have a LinkedIn account connected".
Each Postiv user can connect one personal profile. To switch to a different LinkedIn account, click Disconnect on the current one first. See Connect your LinkedIn account.
I get "You need a seat assigned to connect your LinkedIn account".
You are on a team plan without a seat. Ask your workspace owner or an admin to assign you one.
Is it safe to reconnect?
Yes. You sign in on LinkedIn itself. Postiv never sees your password. More in Security and privacy.
Still stuck?
Email carolina@postiv.ai with the name of your LinkedIn profile, what you see on the LinkedIn card (for example Connection expired) and a screenshot of any error message.
