Teach Bob your writing voice
Train Bob on your past posts or writing samples, then add your own rules so every draft sounds like you.

Bob writes each post for a specific LinkedIn profile, and every profile has its own voice. You teach it in three layers: a style Bob learns from your writing, rules you add yourself, and preferences Bob remembers as you chat. All of it lives under Foundation.
Open your profile's voice settings
- Click Foundation in the sidebar.
- Scroll to Profile Foundation ("Settings per LinkedIn profile").
- Click the tab with your profile name. If you manage several profiles or company pages, each one has its own tab and its own voice.
- Scroll to Writing Style.
Changes save on their own a moment after you make them. Foundation opens once a LinkedIn profile is connected. See Connect LinkedIn.
What you see depends on whether the profile has a trained style yet. A new profile offers two ways to train one, Extract Style and Upload Writing Samples. Once a style is trained, those options give way to the Style Summary and a Reset button.
Learn from your LinkedIn posts
This is the fastest route if you already post on LinkedIn.
- Under Learn from LinkedIn Posts, click Extract Style.
- Wait while it says Analyzing.... Postiv reads your imported LinkedIn posts and works out how you write: tone, sentence length, formatting habits and more.
- When it finishes, the section shows "Trained on" with the date and a short Style Summary, for example "short sentences, minimal emojis".
Extract Style learns from posts Postiv has imported. If you have none yet, use writing samples instead. The option only shows while the profile has no trained style.
Learn from writing samples
Use this when you are new to LinkedIn, or want Bob to write like something other than your past posts, such as emails, newsletters or a blog.
- Click Upload Writing Samples to expand it.
- Paste your text. Include several pieces for a better read. You need at least 100 words, and a counter shows how many you have.
- Click Analyze Writing.
Like Extract Style, this option shows only while the profile has no trained style. To train again, click Reset first (see below).
Add your own rules
Learned style is a starting point. Custom Instructions (optional) override it. Write plain sentences, up to 2,000 characters. For example:
- "Always mention my podcast."
- "Never use the word 'leverage'."
- "Start posts with a question."
Use this for hard rules ("never", "always"), words to avoid, and how you sign off.
Let Bob remember as you chat
When you tell Bob a preference in a chat ("Never use hashtags", "Always keep posts under 150 words"), he saves it under Saved Memory in the same section. Review it there. To forget something, click the bin icon beside it. Memories are per profile by default.
More settings that shape your posts
Open Settings, then AI Creation Settings, to add:
- Authority Statements: credibility lines such as "Marketing leader with 10+ years building B2B brands".
- Call to Actions: closing lines Bob can use at the end of posts.
- Content Principles: your approach, such as "Always give actionable takeaways".
- Your Products: offerings Bob can mention naturally.
Click Save AI Creation Settings at the bottom when you are done.
Start over
If the learned style no longer fits, click Reset in the Writing Style box and confirm. This removes the trained style only. Your custom instructions and saved memories stay.
Tips
- If your old posts no longer reflect how you write, click Reset, then use Upload Writing Samples with your best recent writing instead.
- Fix voice problems with a rule. If Bob keeps opening with "Imagine this", add "Never start with 'Imagine'".
- Check one draft after every change, so you learn what each rule does.
Common questions
Does each profile need its own voice?
Yes, each profile has its own. A founder and a company page rarely sound alike, so set them up separately.
Does Bob copy my old posts?
He learns style traits such as tone, sentence length and formatting, then writes new posts. He does not paste your old posts back.
The style did not change my drafts. Why?
Start a new chat after changing your settings. For a draft in progress, ask Bob to rewrite it "in my voice".
