Teach Bob with Knowledge

Upload your own material and connect sources so Bob writes from what you actually know.

Knowledge is Bob's memory. Everything you add here, such as documents, videos, your website or a newsletter, becomes material Bob can search when it writes a post or plans your week. The more real material Bob has, the less generic the drafts sound.

Open Knowledge in the sidebar (under Intelligence). It has two views: Library for items you add by hand, and Sources for connections that keep Bob up to date automatically.

Add something to your Library

The Library view. Upload item is at the top right.
  1. Open Knowledge and stay on Library.
  2. Click Upload item.
  3. Choose what you are adding using the tabs in the window:
    • Text Document: paste a title, the content and optional tags.
    • Documents: drop in PDF, DOCX, PPTX or XLSX files.
    • Image Upload: JPEG, PNG, GIF or WebP.
    • YouTube Video: a video or channel address.
    • LinkedIn Post, LinkedIn Profile or Company Posts: paste the LinkedIn address and Postiv imports the posts.
  4. Click the button at the bottom, for example Upload Documents or Import Post.

Your new item appears in the Library. Use the type filters (Websites, PDFs, Images, YouTube, Notion, Posts, Text) and the sort menu to find things later.

Share an item with your workspace

Each item is marked Personal or Shared. Select one or more items, then click Share with your workspace name to let teammates use them, or Make Personal to keep them to yourself. Delete removes the selected items.

Connect a source

A source watches a place for new material and sends it to Bob on its own. Use sources for things that keep changing.

  1. Open Knowledge, switch to Sources, then stay on Connections.
  2. Click Add Source (or Add Your First Source if the list is empty).
  3. Pick a type, fill in the details and click Create Source.
Choose a source type, then configure it.
SourceWhat it does
WebsiteCrawls pages on your company website. You can limit it with Include Paths and Exclude Paths.
NewsletterGives you a Newsletter Forwarding Address ending in @sources.postiv.ai. Forward or subscribe newsletters to it and each issue is imported.
LinkedIn ProfileFollows a company page or teammates who are not on Postiv.
CompetitorsTakes you to Audience & Competitors in Foundation, where competitors live.
YouTubeImports transcripts from your channel.
NotionSyncs the Notion pages you pick.
APITakes you to Integrations in Settings, to push content from your own tools.

Set up a newsletter source

  1. Choose Newsletter and copy the forwarding address.
  2. Subscribe to a newsletter with that address, or set up an email forward from your inbox.
  3. Optionally add Approved Senders (an address like newsletter@example.com, or a whole domain like @example.com). Leave it empty to accept everything.
  4. Click Create Source. The card shows Awaiting first email until the first message lands.

Manage a source

Click the three dots on a source card to:

  • Target Profiles: choose which LinkedIn profiles the source feeds. By default it feeds all of them.
  • Pause Source or Resume Source.
  • Delete Source, which also deletes the items it collected.

The card also shows a status (Active, Paused, Error or Running), when it last ran, and how many profiles it feeds.

Review what Bob collected

Switch to the Activity tab. It lists the content Bob has pulled in from your connections.

  1. Use All Sources to filter to one source.
  2. Open an item to read what was collected.
  3. Remove anything that does not fit with the remove button on the item, or tick several and click Remove Selected.

Cleaning this list is worth a minute now and then. Bob writes from whatever is in there.

Tips

  • Start with three things: your website, your best-performing LinkedIn posts and one long document like a talk or case study.
  • Add a newsletter source for the newsletters you already read. It gives Bob fresh angles every week.
  • Use Target Profiles when you manage several profiles, so each profile only draws on its own material.

Common questions

How often do sources check for new content?

Websites are checked on a schedule Postiv manages for you. Most other sources check about once a day. Newsletters arrive as the emails come in, and Notion syncs when your pages change.

Can I remove something Bob learned?

Yes. Delete an item from the Library, or remove it from the Activity tab if it came from a source. Bob stops using it.

Does Knowledge change how Bob sounds?

No. Knowledge gives Bob facts and stories. How you sound comes from your profile foundation.
