Posts with a visual get noticed. In Postiv you can generate an image from your post text, ask for changes in plain words, or attach a picture you already have. Everything attaches straight to the post you are editing.
Generate an image
- Open a text post with some content in it. The post needs text first, because Postiv uses it as context.
- Under the post preview, in the dashed area, click Generate Image.
- In Image styles ("Pick a style to generate your image"), click a style. Examples include Book Page Quote, Simple Notebook Text, Whiteboard Quote, Tweetpic and Notebook Infographic. Each tile shows an example of what you will get.
- On the next screen, add anything you want to steer in Extra instructions (optional). Add logos or screenshots under Reference images (optional) with Add image.
- Click Generate image. The result appears inside the post preview.
You can also just ask Bob: "add an image to this post". He suggests a style that fits, for example a quote style for a single big idea. If your post is a list or framework, he will usually point you to an infographic instead.
Describe your own image
Click the first tile, Custom prompt ("Describe any image"), and write what you want in Describe your image. Your post is sent along as context, so you can say "visualize the main point".
If a prompt works well, click Save as prompt. Give it a Name, the Prompt and an optional Description, and click Save as prompt again. Saved prompts show up as tiles marked Saved prompt for everyone in your workspace. To rename, edit or delete them later, open Settings, then Saved Image Prompts, and use Edit or Delete.
Two special styles
- Personal Pic With Quote needs a photo of you. Click Add reference image and pick or upload one. It becomes the background, with your quote on a floating card.
- Pinterest Remix (Beta) lets you search Pinterest for inspiration. Type a search and click Search, pick a pin, add optional instructions and click Generate image. Postiv creates an original image inspired by it.
Change an image you generated
- In the top-right corner of the image in the preview, click the pencil (Edit image).
- In Edit Image, choose how to describe the change:
- Select area: paint over part of the image, then say what should change there.
- Annotate: click the image to drop numbered pins and write an instruction for each one.
- Whole image: describe a change to the entire picture.
- Write what should change in What should change?. Name the object and the exact replacement, and say what must stay the same.
- Optionally add up to four Reference images (optional) such as a logo.
- Click Apply Edit.
Each edit creates a new version. You can also ask Bob to go back: "restore the first version of the image".
To take the image off the post, click Unlink image in the same corner. The image stays in your library.
Use your own pictures
- In the editor: click Attach Existing under the post preview. In Select Media, choose AI Generated, Image Library or Upload New.
- In the chat: click the + button and choose Upload image or Pick from library, or drag a picture into the chat. Then tell Bob how to use it, for example "put this screenshot on the post as is". You can attach up to 5 images to a message.
- When you schedule, you can attach up to 20 images to one post. See Schedule posts.
Your name on images
AI images can carry a small footer that reads "Follow" plus your name and a tagline. To change the logo and tagline, open Settings, then AI Creation Settings, and edit Image branding. Leave the tagline blank to use the default.
Common questions
Why can't I edit my uploaded screenshot with instructions?
Edit image needs an image that Postiv generated. If you see "This image can't be edited yet", ask Bob in the chat to change it instead, or edit it in another tool and upload the result.
Can a post have an image and a carousel?
No. A post carries one type of media at a time: images, a carousel, or a video. Attaching one replaces the other.
Will the text on the image always be perfect?
Check it before you schedule. If a word is off, use Edit image and ask for the exact wording.
