Set up your profile foundation
Tell Bob how often you post, what you want to be known for and how you write, one LinkedIn profile at a time.

Profile Foundation holds everything Bob needs to know about one LinkedIn profile: your posting days, your content pillars, your writing style and any personal rules. Bob uses it when it coaches you toward your weekly goal and when it writes a post for that profile.
Open Foundation in the sidebar. You will see two cards: Organization Foundation (shared by everyone, see Set up your organization foundation) and Profile Foundation, which says Settings per LinkedIn profile.
Changes save by themselves a moment after you make them. There is no save button.
Choose which profile you are editing
Every connected personal profile and company page has its own tab at the top of the Profile Foundation card. Company pages carry a (Page) label. Click a tab to edit that profile. Each profile keeps its own goal, pillars, style and instructions. If you manage several, see Manage several LinkedIn profiles.
Set your weekly publishing goal
- Under Weekly Publishing Goal, click the days you want to post. Selected days are highlighted. You must keep at least one.
- Read the line Your goal. It counts your days, for example 3 posts per week.
- Set Posting time. The time zone next to it comes from your browser.
Your posting days set the weekly goal Bob coaches you toward. Changes apply from next week.
Define your content pillars
Pillars are the topics you want to be known for. You can have up to 5.
- Under Content Pillars, click Add pillar.
- Fill in Name, for example "AI in marketing".
- Add a one-sentence Description. This is the line Bob sees in every chat.
- Optionally add Notes (angles, examples, things you have learned) and a Suggested day if a pillar belongs on a certain weekday.
- Click Add pillar to save.
To change a pillar, click its card, edit and click Save changes. Archive removes it from your active list.
Not sure what your pillars are? Ask Bob in a chat to work them out with you. It will ask about your business and propose a set.
Teach Bob how you write
The Writing Style section has two ways to train Bob's sense of your voice.
Learn from your LinkedIn posts
Click Extract Style under Learn from LinkedIn Posts. Postiv analyzes the posts it has imported and learns your tone, structure and formatting habits.
Learn from writing samples
- Click Upload Writing Samples.
- Paste several pieces of your writing. You need at least 100 words, and more is better.
- Click Analyze Writing.
Once Bob has learned your style, the section shows when it was trained and a Style Summary. Click Reset to throw it away and start again.
For a deeper look at how voice works, read Make Bob sound like you.
Add your own rules
Custom Instructions (optional) is a free text box, up to 2,000 characters, for rules that override the learned style. For example: "Always mention my podcast. Never use the word 'leverage'. Start posts with a question."
Saved Memory lists preferences Bob has noted while you chat, such as "Never use hashtags." Click the bin icon next to a memory to delete it.
Tips
- Pick posting days you can actually keep. Three realistic days beat five you skip.
- Keep pillar descriptions to one clear sentence. Bob reads them in every conversation, so short wins.
- Re-run Extract Style after you have published a good batch of new posts, by resetting first.
- If a style rule keeps coming up in chat, move it into Custom Instructions so it sticks.
Common questions
Do my settings apply to every profile?
No. Profile Foundation is per profile. Business facts that apply to everyone, such as your company description, live in the organization foundation.
What does Suggested day do?
It tells Bob which weekday suits a pillar best. It is a suggestion, not a rule. Leave it on No preference if the topic works on any day.
I changed my posting days. When does it take effect?
From next week. The plan for the current week stays as it is.
