Set up your organization foundation

Describe your business, audience, competitors and brand once, and every profile in the workspace benefits.

Organization Foundation is the shared briefing Bob reads about your company. It covers what you do, who you serve, who you compete with and how your brand looks. It applies to every profile in the workspace, so you fill it in once instead of once per person.

Open Foundation in the sidebar. The Organization Foundation card, labelled Shared settings for all profiles, is at the top. It has three tabs: Business, Audience & Competitors and Brand Kit.

Describe your business

The Business tab. Autocomplete fills most of it from your website.
  1. Open the Business tab.
  2. Enter your Website URL, such as https://example.com.
  3. Click Autocomplete. Postiv reads your website and fills in the business name, description, country and language.
  4. Check each field and edit anything that is off: Business Name, Language, Country and Business Description.

The description holds up to 2,000 characters. Write what you do, who you serve, your main features and your value proposition. This is the text Bob leans on most, so plain and specific beats clever.

Add your audience and competitors

Competitors on top, target audience below.
  1. Open the Audience & Competitors tab.
  2. Under Competitors, paste a website or a LinkedIn profile address (for example competitor.com or linkedin.com/in/...) and click the + button. Postiv looks up their LinkedIn presence and shows each one as Person, Company or Website.
  3. Under Target Audience, click Pre-fill to let Postiv suggest an audience from your website, or type your own.
  4. Add Roles (for example CTOs or founders), Industries and Pain Points. Press Enter after each entry to add it.

To remove a competitor, click the bin next to it. To remove an audience entry, click its small x.

Set up your brand kit

The Brand Kit tab is one home for your team's brand. Bob and the carousel and image tools use it so everything looks like you. Profile names and photos stay personal.

Extract your brand from your website, then refine it.
  1. Open the Brand Kit tab.
  2. Enter your website under Extract from your website and click Extract brand. Postiv detects your colors, fonts, logos and images.
  3. Review the result. The buttons All Assets, Logos, Colors, Fonts, Layout, Photos, Graphics, Icons, Guidelines and Charts let you jump between sections.
  4. Fix what is wrong:
    • Colors: set primary, accent, background and text colors as hex codes, plus a full palette.
    • Fonts: choose fonts for heading, subheading, body, quote and caption.
    • Layout defaults: background style, logo position and size, and whether the logo shows by default.
    • Logos, Photos, Graphics and Icons: click Upload image or add an image address and click Add. Mark one logo with Set as primary.
    • Brand guidelines and Image direction: free text on logo rules, photography and visual style.
  5. Click Save changes. If you have not reviewed the kit yet, the button reads Confirm brand kit.

You can reach the same screen from Settings under Brand Kit.

Tips

  • Run Autocomplete first, then edit. It is much faster than starting from a blank form.
  • Add two or three real competitors. Postiv tracks their LinkedIn presence as extra inspiration for you.
  • Finish with Confirm brand kit so your team knows the extracted details have been checked by a person.

Common questions

Who can change the organization foundation?

Every member of the workspace can edit it. Agency teams can also edit it in client workspaces. See Agencies and client workspaces.

How is this different from the profile foundation?

The organization foundation is about the company and is shared. The profile foundation is about one person: their posting days, pillars and writing style.

Autocomplete filled in the wrong thing. What now?

Just overwrite it. Autocomplete is a head start, and anything you type replaces it.

Will extracting my brand again erase my edits?

No. Saved edits stay in place when you extract again. Save your current changes first, because Extract brand is disabled while you have unsaved edits.
