Create and schedule your first post
Go from a fresh account to a scheduled LinkedIn post in about 10 minutes.

This guide takes you from a new account to your first scheduled post. It follows the same three steps as the Your setup checklist on your Home page: connect LinkedIn, add knowledge sources, and schedule your first post. It takes about 10 minutes.
Before you start
You need a Postiv account with your trial started. If you are still in the setup flow, finish it first. It asks for your LinkedIn profile, your website and the days you want to post.
Step by step
- Connect your LinkedIn. On Home, click Connect LinkedIn in the Your setup card. It opens Settings on the LinkedIn Accounts tab. Click Connect, approve access on LinkedIn, and you land back in Postiv. This takes about a minute. Full details are in Connect LinkedIn.
- Add knowledge sources. Click Add sources in the checklist, or open Knowledge in the sidebar, switch to the Sources tab and click Add Source. Choose a Website, Newsletter, YouTube channel, your LinkedIn Profile or another type, and follow the prompts. The more real material Bob has, the more your posts sound like you. You can also click Upload item to add documents. See Knowledge.
- Ask Bob for a post. Go back to Home and type in the Ask Bob box, for example "Write a post about the biggest mistake I see clients make." Press
Enteror click Send. If Bob has already prepared ideas for you, click Create post on any idea card instead. - Review the draft. Bob answers in the chat and opens the draft in an editor on the right. Read it, ask Bob for changes ("shorter", "stronger opening", "add an example from my newsletter") or edit the text yourself. Bob may first ask you a quick multiple choice question to get the angle right.
- Schedule it. Ask Bob, for example "Schedule it for Thursday at 9am", or click Schedule in the editor toolbar and pick a time. Your post now appears on the Schedule page and publishes to LinkedIn automatically. See Schedule posts.
Tips
- Be specific. "A story about the day a client fired us and what I changed" gives Bob far more to work with than "a post about clients".
- Set your posting days in Foundation, under Weekly Publishing Goal. Home then tracks your progress each week.
- If Bob's first draft is close but not right, say what is off in plain words. You do not need to start over.
Common questions
Do I have to finish all three setup steps before I can write a post?
No. You can chat with Bob straight away. Connecting LinkedIn is needed to publish, and sources make the writing better, but neither stops you from trying a draft.
The Knowledge and Foundation pages are greyed out. Why?
They unlock once a LinkedIn profile is connected. See Connect LinkedIn.
Where did my draft go after I scheduled it?
Scheduled posts leave Drafts and move to Schedule. Open the Schedule page to see, move or unschedule them.
