Postiv has a hosted MCP server. In plain terms, that lets the AI app you already use, such as Claude or ChatGPT, work inside your Postiv workspace. You can ask it to read your writing style, draft and schedule posts, or pull your analytics without leaving the conversation.

Claude and ChatGPT connect with a normal sign-in, so you do not need a key. Developer tools like Claude Code, Cursor and Codex connect with an API key.

Before you start

Connect your LinkedIn profile or company page in Postiv first. Your AI app can only work with profiles that are already connected. See Connect your LinkedIn account.

The server address for every connection is https://postiv.ai/mcp.

Open the setup guide

  1. In the sidebar, click Connect MCP. It sits near the bottom and says "Use Postiv in Claude & ChatGPT".
  2. In the Connect Postiv to your AI app window, choose your app: Claude, ChatGPT (web), Claude Code, Cursor, Codex or Other clients.
  3. Follow the steps shown for that app. They are the same ones below.
The Connect MCP button sits near the bottom of the sidebar.
Pick your app, then follow the steps shown under it.

You can open the same guide from Settings, then Integrations, at the top of the page under Connect the Postiv MCP.

Connect Claude

  1. In the setup guide, choose Claude and click Add Postiv to Claude.
  2. In Claude, check that the name is Postiv and the server URL is https://postiv.ai/mcp, then choose Continue.
  3. If Claude asks how to authenticate, choose OAuth with automatic client registration. Leave the client ID and client secret empty, then finish adding the connector.
  4. Choose Connect on the Postiv connector. Sign in to Postiv, select your workspace, review the access level and choose Connect workspace.
  5. Start a new conversation, enable Postiv, and send the test message below.

If the link does not open the form, go to Claude, then Customize, then Connectors, then Add custom connector. Name it Postiv and paste the server URL. If a Postiv connector already exists, keep using it.

Connect ChatGPT

  1. In the setup guide, choose ChatGPT (web) and click Open ChatGPT Plugins.
  2. In ChatGPT, click Add in the top-right corner, then Create MCP App.
  3. In the New Plugin form, enter Postiv as the name. Under Connection, choose Server URL and paste https://postiv.ai/mcp. Keep Authentication on OAuth.
  4. Read the custom-server notice. If you agree, select I understand and want to continue, then choose Create.
  5. Choose Sign in with Postiv. Sign in, pick your workspace and access level, and choose Connect workspace.
  6. Open a new chat, enable Postiv and send the test message.

Missing Create MCP App? Turn on Developer mode in ChatGPT's settings. Availability depends on your ChatGPT plan and your workspace's rules.

Connect Claude Code, Cursor, Codex or another client

These tools use an organization API key instead of a sign-in. An admin creates the key first. See Integrations, API key and webhooks.

  1. Open Settings, then Integrations, and choose your tool in the guide at the top. If you are an admin, the guide fills your key into the command and masks it until you reveal it. If there is no key yet, click Generate API key. (The guide in the sidebar shows a placeholder instead of your key.)
  2. Copy the command or configuration shown.
  3. Run it, or paste it into your tool, then restart the tool if it asks you to.

For reference, the shapes look like this. Replace YOUR_API_KEY with your own key.

  • Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http postiv https://postiv.ai/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"
  • Cursor: open Cursor Settings, then Tools & MCP, then New MCP Server, and add postiv with the URL https://postiv.ai/mcp and an Authorization header of Bearer YOUR_API_KEY.
  • Codex: codex mcp add postiv --url "https://postiv.ai/mcp/YOUR_API_KEY"
  • Other clients: use any client that supports remote Streamable HTTP MCP. Send the key as a bearer Authorization header, or as x-api-key.

Check that it works

Send this as your first message:

Confirm my Postiv workspace and list my connected LinkedIn profiles. Do not create or change anything.

If the assistant answers with your workspace name and your profiles, you are connected.

Choose what your AI app can do

When you sign in from Claude or ChatGPT, you pick one of two access levels on the Postiv consent screen:

  • Read & write is the default. The app can create, edit, delete, schedule and publish content, manage approvals, comment or react on teammate publications and tracked feeds, and reply or react to comments.
  • Read only lets the app view content, knowledge, profiles, analytics, plans, approvals, teammate publications, tracked feeds and comments. Choose this if you only want research and reporting.

Only the workspace you choose is shared.

See or remove connected apps

  1. Go to postiv.ai/oauth/connections, or click Manage connected apps in the setup guide.
  2. Find the app. Each one shows its workspace and whether it has Read only or Full access.
  3. Click Revoke access to disconnect it.

If nothing is connected yet, the page says No apps connected yet.

Existing connections keep the permissions they were created with. To change the workspace or the access level, revoke the connection and connect again.

Common questions

The assistant says it has no Postiv tools.

Refresh the connection's tools in your AI app, then enable Postiv in a brand new conversation.

It is connected to the wrong workspace, or it can only read.

Revoke the connection in Connected apps and connect again, choosing the workspace and access level you want.

I see an "Invalid redirect URI" error.

Send the exact callback address shown by your AI app to carolina@postiv.ai and we will sort it out.

Does the assistant see my private LinkedIn data?

It only sees what Postiv holds for the workspace and access level you chose. See Security and privacy.

Do I need a subscription?

Yes. The tools work while your workspace has an active trial or subscription. If billing lapses, your connection stays authorized, but your AI app will tell you to review billing in Settings. See Plans and billing.
